“Engaging exclusively with filmic analysis through an archival conceptual rhetoric lens and archival sciences, the eight chapters in Archives in ‘Lusophone’ Film, move between countries (Brazil, Portugal, Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau) and film genres (documental, fictional, experimental), yet they also point to how archival procedures for censorship during periods of dictatorship in these regions shaped film reception and film itself. Similarly, Archives in ‘Lusophone’ Film seeks to explore connections and rifts between a more experimental approach to archival material and a more historically drawn one.”
